Farting is a natural thing but some of us do it way more than others. Today it’s not considered as rude as it once was but it’s not something we’d recommend you doing when you first meet the in-laws, or your new boss. Our 1st fact is an obvious one – Men fart more often than women.

Farting is a sign that you have healthy intestines. Basically if your digestive track is all good, you’ll fart.

Although other people’s farts are often disgusting, inhaling them isn’t bad for your health. Scientists believe that exposure to hydrogen sulphide reduces mitochondrial damage. We’re not sure what all that means but we trust the scientists who would have had lots of fun proving their theories.

Although smells are hard to categorise, women’s farts are said to stink worse than men’s. Perhaps the fact that they don’t fart as much contributes to this as each fart contains more hydrogen sulphide than the average man’s.
