Recreational drugs have different but equally long lasting effects on the brain. LSD is a drug that generates a hallucinogenic state which makes the user feel and hear things that aren’t happening. The effects can last up to 12 hours but the damage lasts longer. Users have been known to become increasingly paranoia and some even see people and objects that aren’t there. Magic mushrooms have the hallucinogenic qualities found in LSD so the lasting effects are much the same.

The long term effects of Ecstasy use include sleep issues, a lack of energy and drastic weight loss. Users become psychologically dependent on the euphoria the drug generates but they don’t often realise that the drug lowers their body’s serotonin levels and that it can have effects on certain areas of the brain.
