We all know that beer puts weight on and that if you drink loads of it, you'll be sick but what other side effects does drinking beer have?

Within the first five minutes of taking your first sip the alcohol has already got to your stomach where it's quickly absorbed into your bloodstream. After that it travels all around your body including your brain and your muscles.

After 15 minutes your body is still trying to break the alcohol down. To combat it, the stomach produces ‘Alcohol dehydrogenase’ which converts the alcohol into chemicals including Acetaldehyde (that's one of the main contributors to the next day's hangover).

Hangover time occurs around 12 to 24 hours after drinking. You'll get headaches, dizziness, thirst, paleness and tremors while your body tries to deal with the excess alcohol in your system.
