Top natural remedies for anxiety
When mismanaged, stress and anxiety can seriously affect our health. Fortunately, there are plenty of natural remedies for anxiety.
Drown your worries
A hot bath is one of the most pleasant and most effective methods to calm down. It will be even more efficient if you add some lavender oil or dried lavender flowers to your bath. This plant is known for over 2000 years for its soothing properties. If you do not have time to take a bath, you can apply a few drops of lavender essence on your forehead.
By regulating your breathing, you can quickly calm your anxiety. Sit down, breathe slowly and let your belly swell (you can get your hands on it to feel the movement). Hold your breath for four or five seconds, then exhale slowly. Repeat until you fee calmer.
Have a hot drink
Drinking a glass of warm milk is an old remedy for insomnia and it is effective in the treatment of anxiety as well. Milk contains tryptophan, an amino acid that is necessary for the production of serotonin, a chemical neurotransmitter that is responsible for our sense of wellbeing.
Stop feeding your anxiety
Try not to drink more than a cup of tea or can of coke per day. People suffering from anxiety may be more sensitive to caffeine than others. You should also watch your alcohol intake. Even though alcohol may initially create the impression of calm, when its effect wears off, anxiety may intensify in many cases.
