First Signs of Pregnancy

Has your body been acting differently lately? Perhaps you are wondering if you may be pregnant. While the only concrete way of knowing if you are pregnant is by taking a pregnancy test, here is a list of the first signs of pregnancy that may also hint that you are pregnant.

Common Signs and Symptoms

One of the most common symptoms associated with pregnancy is morning sickness which can happen at any time of day. Not everyone will experience this though, but for those that do, it will start occurring around 6 weeks.

First signs of pregnancy can often be similar to menstruation with spotting and cramping. This is caused by the fertilized egg attaching to the uterus wall and often occurs 6-12 days after the egg is fertilized.

You will also notice a white milky discharge right after conception. The increase of cells lining the vagina causes this, and will continue throughout the pregnancy.

Because of the hormone change, breasts will start feeling sore and swollen a week or two after conception. They may also feel tender to touch and the areola may darken. This should ease up after a few weeks.

Fatigue is another symptom women that may be pregnant will start feeling as soon as one week after conception and throughout the first trimester. This is due to the increase in the hormone progesterone.

Other symptoms may include headaches, frequent urination, backaches and food cravings and aversions. Missed periods is also a symptom but this may be due to quick weight loss or gain.

Different Bodies. Different Symptoms

It is important to note that while these symptoms may be the first signs of pregnancy, having a few of these does not necessarily conclude that you are pregnant. But for those of you that are experiencing many of these signs, note that thankfully you may not experience all of them. Each body responds differently to being pregnant.
